Arizona Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center
Adults in Tucson and southern Arizona are followed in the Arizona Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center at the Arizona Health Sciences Center. The adult hemophilia program is fully staffed with a hematologist( who is the program director), nurse, nurse practitioner, social worker and physical therapist. A full range of surgical, subspecialty and orthopedic services is provided at University Medical Center, the University of Arizona’s teaching hospital. The hemophilia team develops and manages all pre and post operative replacement therapy and treatment plans and works with subspecialty providers to insure that adult patients have uneventful procedures and excellent outcomes. Adult patients are also followed by the Infectious Disease providers in the Special Immunology Clinic for HIV related issues. A physician nationally renowned for his research in Hepatitis C sees hemophilia patients regularly in the Liver Institute at UMC. A high-risk obstetrics clinic and labor and delivery unit is available for women with bleeding disorders and those at risk of delivering affected neonates. Consultation and treatment is available 24/7 by calling the UMC page operator at 520-694-6000 and asking for the hemophilia provider on call.
